Kirkland Spinecare is Dr. Kyle Oh’s private practice. Dr. Oh uses the latest cutting edge technology to ensure that his patients get the best quality care. At Kirkland Spinecare we use an Electronic Medical Records system, from scheduling and billing, to patient’s charts, to prescriptions writing, etc. Everything is done using high technology. Dr. Oh even writes his notes on a Table PC! Having a paperless office means that Dr. Oh and his staff spend less time searching for charts and looking up information, which gives us more time to take care of our patients.

WHAT IS A PHYSIATRIST?

(pronounced: fiz eye’ a trist)

Physicians who specialize in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation are called "physiatrists". Physiatrists are specialists in the diagnosis and treatment of patients of all ages in the following three areas of medical care.

Diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal injuries and pain syndromes.

These include sports and/or work injuries, such as back and neck pain and many others, as well as degenerative conditions such as common arthritis.

Electrodiagnostic medicine

Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation is a specialty in medicine in which special training in electromyography (EMG) and nerve conduction studies (NCV) is required. These procedures are used for evaluation of various neurological disorders including sciatica, carpal tunnel syndrome, and other types of nerve injuries.

Rehabilitation of patients with severe injuries and impairments

The physiatrist works with a comprehensive rehabilitation team of professionals that may include physical therapists, occupational therapists, recreational therapists, rehabilitation nurses, psychologists, social workers, speech-language pathologists and others. Physiatrists treat neurological rehabilitation conditions including stroke, brain injury, musculoskeletal injuries, and spinal cord injury. Many other disabling conditions such as amputations, multiple trauma, burns and sports injuries are treated as well.

Dr. Oh’s practice is specifically targeted toward the musculoskeletal injuries involving the spine and the extremities along with the use of the Electrodiagnostic medicine. His approach is to provide a non-surgical treatment to these conditions whenever possible.

MISSION STATEMENT

Dr. Oh’s goal in treating his patients is to provide the most effective, state of the art medical care to help his patients recover from their injuries and pain and to teach them how to prevent these injuries from happening again. The main emphasis in his practice is not only to relieve the patient’s pain and suffering but to help educate them about how they can prevent these injuries in the future by educating his patients through self-directed education programs. He does not believe that his job is done until his patients can learn how to take care of themselves so that they do not need his care in the future! He believes that he needs to treat the patient as a whole person to help them regain as much function and independence as possible. For the variety of services that he provides click here.

As someone who treats both acute and chronic pain, he understands that the most important thing that he can do as a physician is to provide relief of pain and suffering. As a physician, he took the Hippocratic oath to “provide aid and comfort and above all do no harm”. As a physician, he understands that sometime all he can do is provide comfort and aid and give the best pain management possible.

As a pain management specialist, he understands the intricacy of pain management and the importance of treating addiction as well as the side effects of opiate pain medications.
